How long has it been

Hello blog, how long has it been?

I am here again to tell something about my life. Well, waklu.com has  been hit by the Security Commission, this is due to the post related to hacked by RedMin. They stated that my website has faced a defacement. Then they clarify again that they are mistaken and has come to understand that it was just a post I write about being hacked by Redmin and is not the actual hack itself. What questions me the most is their inept to ask for forgiveness and admitting their mistake. I am just told to ignore the email. Man, they really need to work on their Repo to public.

Gamespot Plus: Registration

Rank: Plus Subscriber

Today marks the day that I opted to register as a Gamespot Plus member. Throughout the years I have been a registered user at Gamespot albeit not an active one. This all changed when I bought my PS3. I had been going through Gamespot, all and about looking for informations, updates and videos of my games. I have also participated in forums to obtain and share knowledge with fellow gamers and in the process made some new friends as well.

After all that I get from gamespot, I felt obliged to actually register myself as a Gamespot plus member today. I hope this endeavor would prove fulfilling to my cause to be a gamer with a good gamers code and in making video games a tool to unify all the people in the world regardless of race, culture and religion. And also, Carving My Own Legacy in this big blue planet we call Home.

The Palm Of Your Hand

I would like to share something that I received in my email today. Its about a guy who repairs punctured bicycle tire using his 2 feet. Yes, he had no arms and he used his own 2 feet better than some of us handling tools using our hands.

A quote from the email captured my attention.

"Never believe what the lines of your hand predict about your future,
b coz people who don't have hands also have a future... Believe in yourself"

Greatest day of my life

I would like to thank God for this is one of the happiest day of my life. Definitely, The Almighty has given so much to me, Alhamdulillah Subhanallah Allahu Akhbar. Today, 21st July 2010 we went for check up due to my wife not feeling so well. The doctor asked if she was pregnant. We did utilized the pregnancy test kit and it showed positive result. In order to confirm, the doctor ordered an ultrasound scan.

It is confirm, my wife is carrying our second child (Batrisyia my first daughter is already 3 years old and have kept asking for a baby to play with). However, there is more to this news than meets the eyes .. the ultrasound actually showing signs of 2 baby. To our surprise my wife is actually carrying twin!

Although.. the doctor said that one of the twin is too small compared to the dominant one. So chances of success is slim. But, I will still pray that the baby would fight on, and continue to live with his twin in the womb. An attest of how survival fits the natural desire of the human heart. Ganbate!, insyaallah, you will prevail.

Chilling.

Its Saturday evening, I'm chilling with my family, wife cooks spaghetti meatball which is more delicious than Pizza Hut's no offence pizza dudes, its just that this dish is cooked with the love for her family, that extra ingredients is what that makes the Spaghetti Meatball delicious. She told me that the meatballs was actually from burger patties which she cramped in her hands and makes it round like a ball.
By the way. forgot to share that yesterday I played modern warfare 2 spec ops with a close friend of mine, ur4m3sh1. The session yesterday truly brings back lots of great memories from my Counter Strike days. We both used headset to communicate. I remembered a time where we were appointed as snipers, and need to move about as quietly as we can and at the same time needs to kill several enemies that was in the way as quiet. We would go like "I'll take the left, you'll take the right" counted to three and kill both enemies at the same time in which the other could not call for back up. man, that was truly a feeling that would make my heart stay true to this game. Till date, I didn't touch my Uncharted 2 for several days now, due to playing extensively in this new title.
I'm going out to settle a few things. will come back and keep blogging when I have free time.. :)

What a place to sleep

Yesterday, I played Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in multiplayer mode. after playing for about 2 - 3 hours, I stopped playing and just lay down on the sofa. Later, nature calls and I felt the urge to go to the bathroom. I remembered relieving myself, and washing my hands. when suddenly, I was on the floor, sleeping by the toilet bowl. my wife had called on me several times, when I suddenly snaps out from the nap. (i was about half a minute in the bathroom) she was surprised to hear a "thump" sound from the bathroom, then she saw me on the floor and was even surprised that I suddenly woke up from the nap, standing and act as if nothing happened.

Man. what was I thinking? was I so tired after playing Uncharted that I doze off during my time in the bathroom? A mystery indeed..

My First Ebay Purchase

This is the story of how I bought my first item through ebay (http://www.ebay.com/). I'm new at buying through the internet, well not a typical newbie at least... I've already had my paypal account for a year. As I'm a big fan of RPG games, I would like to try and buy an original playstation game that I adore so much back in my psone days that is The Legend Of Dragoon. I already played this game once but I lost the cd. As I browse through ebay for this item, I stumbled upon the game on sale by the seller egameuniverse. The title of the item was "LEGEND OF DRAGOON PLAYSTATION 1&2 PS2 RARE GAME NEW". I saw the feedback from of the seller at 98.2% Positive. And I said to myself.. as this game doesn't cost me much at USD16.98 (shipping calculated), why don't I make this my first purchase.. hmmm. So, I go on and bid for the item and later I found out that I was the winner of the bid. So I go on to pay for the item through paypal and hours later my order was processed (that was quite fast). That was on the 28th of August 2007.

After waiting for about a week, my item finally arrived at my mailbox on the 5th of September 2007. By the way, I'm living in Malaysia and the item is located in US. And I thought to myself that this is a serious businessman, he delivers what he promised.

The item was shipped by UPS. To my surprised, the item was like forcefully put in my mailbox. (I live in an apartment so everyone can see the item in the post box as we all share the same post box area) If someone is with a devious intention in mind, they can easily snatch the item from my mailbox. I thought that if you order a package by UPS, they will ask for your acknowledgement of receipt and ask for your signature, delivering the item into the palm of your hand. Understand that I'm a working man and my time at home would be after 6.30pm. But to say that no one is at home is a lame excuse as my mom is staying with me and she's in the house 24/7. My wife showed some displeasement with how the package was delivered but she tried her very best to hide her emotions.

But as I said to you readers on the first paragraph, this is my first purchased through ebay and I don't know zit about international shipping, pardon my ignorance.

The package
The package with a foam plastic inside. Nevertheless, the package arrived and I'm eager to test my new game.

The package
Tadaa... The Legend Of Dragoon - from faraway land - US :)

The package
The game is definitely sealed and rare (greatest hits version) In a very good condition (new) and tempting.... ahh... good times... good times... As I was reminiscing some old memories while opening the package....

The package
I saw some debris (as shown in the above picture) And as I carefully examine the CD case and content. I found out that the Debris had came from the cd holder of the plastic case. This could be caused by the UPS people in which I think they just throw the items here and there without realizing the value of the content inside haisshhh... that's two down for the UPS

The package
A closeup of the Debris

The package
But, as the day breaks.... I thought to myself, its maybe just my luck and as I open and presented the cd's side by side, it came to my surprise that this game is the black labelled edition and I know in my heart still that this was a very good bargain for me and that I'm proud to buy something that I could cherish and relive my old gamers day once more

Finally I would like to extend my thanks to egameuniverse for being such a good seller and would urge UPS to be a bit gentle in handling goods as there are valued goods cherished by ones' soul eventhough its just a small box with a cheap shipping cost.

Why We Play Games

There exists some ephemeral quality that separates gamers from the rest of humanity, some thing that makes us, us and them, not us. I've never been able to quite put my finger on it, but it is inescapably there. Today, in hopes of moving closer to that essential quality of gamerosity, we examine part of what makes us tick. In particular, we take a look at what draws different types of gamers to the hobby. Every gamer plays for different reasons, but there are common threads that tie the experience together.

Many gamers are motivated by the challenge a game can present. Success in a game may be governed by any of a wide variety of abilities. A First Person Shooter requires twitch reflexes, a steady hand and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A word puzzle game may require an extensive vocabulary and the ability to rethink the uses of old words, but no measure of speed. A sports simulation might well require an in-depth knowledge of the topic, in addition to arcade skill, but is unlikely to have terribly much concern for linguistic acumen.

The common thread is that all of the games challenge some subset of a player's abilities. This challenge can be a powerful motivator. The Challenge Motivated gamer is drawn to a game that tests their skills, preferably one that tests them to their limits. The gamer may also be motivated by the natural improvement that comes from working at peak. They are driven then, not only to excel, but to improve. Challenge Motivated Gamers thrive whenever a game pushes their skill set of choice, but may be disinterested in games that fall too far away from the target.

Competition is a close cousin of challenge. Many gamers are driven by the need to prove they are the best, to be pitted against their fellows and come out on top. Competition minded gamers range from those looking for a challenge in a fair fight to the sort of win-at-all cost leet speaking infants that give us all a bad name. Competition can be easy to take too far. There is nothing inherently wrong with being driven by competition. To some extent, competition is merely challenge taken to the extreme. It is only when it leads to mistreating your fellow player that it begins to become less a motivation and more an unfortunate personality quirk. Competition Motivated players thrive on those games where they are pitted against one another with the outcome dictated by skill at playing the game. They will often wane in those environments that either require cooperation, such as many MMORPGs, or in games where skill plays a much smaller role, such as in less sophisticated card or dice games

A husband's thoughts

Today, 4th September 2007

I've taken my second leave from my new post as a programmer being just two month started working. Well, as a man and soon to be father, I need to be there for my wife who is pregnant. She needs to be taken to appointments to see the doctor at the polyclinic and the hospital. I hope and pray that we will be blessed with a child who is cute, healty in perfect condition and good behaviours.

Anxious as i maybe, i cannot avoid the feelings of guilt. What can a husband do when your wife is telling you about her back cramps, headache, stomach discomfort... if only i could share the things that my wife felt.. alas.. as much as i can, i would like to be there when she needs me, period.

A Note To Oneself

Hello self, today is 17th April 2007. From tomorrow onwards, you shall write about your everyday life. What you see, what you feel, how you react, how you save your lost fragments, how you weave it and so forth. A reminder to oneself that life is just too beautiful to be left behind without one having no recollection or written records of one's everyday life. Not a journey of chasing the path, nor a journey to know tomorrow, just something to commemorate life. Life is just, just write.
