Lost Fragments

a dragon....
why is it here? what rights does this filthy, wretched, disgusting monster have to invade our castle's hall?

arrghhh.... my head.... this feeling.... this disgusted feeling, makes me remember... things i despise, things i could not, does not, desire to remember... no....please!.. noo.... arrgghhhh.....

no, fatheeeerrr!!!!!!

motherrrrrr!... oh no.... mother.... arrghhhhh!

i tried as hard as i can to neglect my personal vendetta against this foul beast, and focused on making sense of the current situation....

The Dragon looked beaten, stabbed with swords, axes and even spears. It was even held to the ground by chains usually used to raise drawbridges. How on earth could a dragon, a mighty creature, brought down as such?

As i was drowning in these questions, the battle at the front gate is starting to take its toll on the castles's gate, thump! thump! the sound of the battering ram trying to crush the castle's gate is like the last symphony of destruction to our kingdom. Suddenly....

In front of me, the red dragon opened its glowing eyes and started moving its head, looking at me as if to say "I shall depart from this world with grace, however you shall die like a bug, cramped in its nest"

"How dare you dragon!!! Don't disgust me with your sight!! "

"Kill me if you will human!! But you shall never dirty my soul!! "

"A dragon!! with a soul!!? Do not despise me with your words dragon, or i shall silence you with my blade!!"

"Tch!.. be done with it, I long for death... How about you wretched human? your castle has fallen, your comrades slain, and soon, you shall follow their fate."

(hmph, the red demon is right, even if i kill it now, soon my fate is also to be sealed...)

then, a few of the enemies soldier managed to get inside the castle's hall, three of them. I tried to fend them off, i summoned every ounce of strength i can from this broken body, every ounce...

after the small and maybe my final battle, i limp back to the dragon..

"still alive foolish human? "

"and you, beast... still breathing... erghh..."

(what am i thinking? what am i doing? my final moment... i can hear the castle's gate plummeted to the ground... and here i am, weak, beaten, not even able to hold my sword straight....hmph... a final moment indeed.... not a very befitting end to one of the 3 elite knights of the kingdom. However... as despicable and as disgusting idea as it is, it might only be my final hope)

"Dragon..."

"?"
"Wretched human, you won't go and face your death gallantly, and now you wish to chat?"

"I'll offer you a wager dragon, so that your life and mine shall be prolonged. I offer you a..."

"A pact? hmph... what makes you worthy of a pact with me human?

"Despise me if you will dragon, But I shall not die!! There are still so many things i wish to protect, so many lost fragments i wish to weave, so many ends i would like to meet, but not this end. What say you dragon?"

"You wish to protect? You wish to weave the lost fragments into new memories? you wish to meet other ends? to see what if you don't die today? to see tomorrow? to weave yesterday into tomorrow and protects it's memories? Hmph.. wretched human... do you think you can?"

"You speak too much dragon... I'm offering.. erghh, you... my life, today urgghhhh.... i wont give in to fate, my life force.... rrkggkhhhh... take it... or die with it dragon!!! WHAT SAY YOU??!!!

As i grab my own life force from my body....

"Very well human, I shall make a pact with you as I too am interested to see a more befitting end that you so desire."

As our life force merged, I can feel a warm aura surrounding my body... It is as if i was in another world.

My wounds healed, my battered clothes, repaired.

The dragon then returned to its former glory.... When I came too, I found myself riding on it holding my sword with my left hand... "This is your new life human, from now on, our life force shall be as one, there will not be a dead pact partner if not the other half has lost its life too. You are as me and me are as you. We are one, united by our will to live"

"Very well dragon, this new life, I shall cherish it And I shall let you see with your own eyes, how i would make this life as a bridge to a more befitting and glorious end of which I desired so.

And so, the pact partners flew off, making an advantage by seeing the enemies from above. Today the red dragon shall burn the approaching armies with its flame and the knight shall slice them with his sword. The knight with a strong will to live with a hatred for a dragon, and a dragon with a pure heart with a hatred for humans. United by their will to live. And so end a tale of a Knights Eternal Promise the tale of how they first unite. There are still many tales of them left untold, i shall weave it and unfold it later.
